About Alexander Players

Alexander Players was founded by brother and sister team Neil and Rose Kalef, born from a shared love of theatre, community, and the belief that great stories are meant to be experienced together. For more than a decade, the pair were part of a beloved theatre company in Columbus, Ohio, engaging, creating, and learning about the world through the lens of performing arts. That experience became a defining part of their lives, not only because of the productions they were a part of, but because of the people, traditions, and values they discovered along the way.
At the heart of that experience was Laurie Alexander, a director, mentor, and tremendous inspiration. Through the many productions Laurie directed and produced, she showed Neil, Rose, and countless others what a theater company could be: a place where people of different backgrounds and experiences come together, where everyone has something meaningful to contribute, and where the process of creating theatre is just as rewarding as the performance itself. She was a tough but fair leader, holding her people to the highest standards while always making sure they understood why those standards mattered. But beneath her stern exterior was a deep commitment to helping everyone grow, both as theatre-makers and as people.
Alexander Players is inspired by the community and people who embraced Neil and Rose and taught them why theatre and the performing arts matter.
